Questions and Answers |
Q. Will the Efflorescence cleaner hurt a swimming pool ?
A. No, but it will affect the PH balance but otherwise it will not damage the pool. This is not to say to pour efflorescence cleaner into a pool.
Q. What is the shelf life of the sealers & cleaners ?
A. 12 – 18 months. If stored in a cool area out of the direct sun.
Q. What will clean cement stains from pavers ?
A. Gator Efflorescence cleaner.
Please note: • Cement is a difficult stain to remove and require several applications and there is the possibility that it will not totally come off do a test area. Q. Can efflorescence cleaner be used on a sealed surface prior to re-sealing ?
A. Yes it can. It is always necessary to use efflorescence cleaner as it preps the surface much like a primer (cleaner), to ensure a good bond of the new to be applied sealer.
Please note: • Make sure to follow directions on the container and thoroughly rinse it off. • Efflorescence cleaner will not penetrate a sealed surface, to remove any efflorescence that may be trapped under the sealer. Q. Is pressure washing the area before sealing – good enough ?
A. No we always recommend using our efflorescence cleaner, this preps the surface assuring a good bond for the sealer. If the area is only pressure washed you are likely to have visible marks and possibly other problems such as the sealer flaking or pealing.
Q. Can Efflorescence cleaner be used on wet cast ?
A. Yes it can, but as with any product, always do a test area first. Refer to the paver manufacture to ensure they approve using efflorescence cleaner.
Q. Will the cleaners remove the sealer ?
A. It depends on which cleaner and which sealer, always read the instructions and always test in a small inconspicuous area first, to be sure before continuing. There is a potential for damaging the sealer, in particular when using the rust remover or the paint and tar remover.
Q. The cleaner is not removing my stain, how many times can I go over the same spot ?
A. First make sure you use the appropriate cleaner for the stain. If the stain has been there for sometime or has deeply penetrated the surface – several applications may be required – Not all stains can be fully removed. Sometimes it may be necessary to remove and relocate the paver.
Q. Is the efflorescence cleaner harmful to my pets ?
A. Efflorescence cleaner – is a strong chemical cleaner, pets should defiantly not drink it or walk in it while wet.
Q. What can I use to remove the milky spots ?
A. If it resembles spilt milk, this is over application of sealer. The remedy depends on if the sealer is solvent or water based. For Solvent based use Gatorene (or xylene), always do a small test area. Water based sealers do not respond well to cleaning with a solvent and will require a number of applications of solvent and vigorous scrubbing with a stiff nylon brush or a soft brass brush – again always test your procedure in a small inconspicuous spot. Bad areas may even require removing (stripping) the sealer, if so use Gator Eco Soya Stripper.
Q. How do I remove white haze ?
A. A white haze can be removed with efflorescence cleaner or a hot pressure washer. Alliance Gator products do not contain any Portland cement, so any hazing is easily removed and will weather away naturally with time and rain.
Q. The efflorescence cleaner turned my grass yellow ?
A. The discoloration is not permanent. It is recommended to water the affected area.
Q. Why wait 60 days to apply efflorescence cleaner ?
A. It is difficult to determine the quantity of efflorescence in a paver. Therefore it best to let the pavers breathe and partake in their natural bleeding process before applying an efflorescence cleaner.
Q. Are the cleaning products harmful to vegetation ?
A. They are not harmful, however one must keep in mind that an undiluted concentration and repeated application on vegetation can be harmful.
Q. When can I use efflorescence cleaner ?
A. 60 days after pavers are installed.
Q. Can I use efflorescence cleaner on wet cast ?
A. It is not recommended. One must confirm with the manufacturer of the wet cast product if efflorescence cleaner is applicable.
