The Old World meets maintenance-free, modern durability in Appian-Stone® Pavers. Appian Stone is a Belgard paver, which is made in the Southeast and other states. Named for Europe's famous Appian Way, these pavers give your hardscape a natural look and feel that evokes another age. Suitable for pedestrian and vehicular traffic, Belgard Appian Stone is available in a two piece set (6"x6" and 6"x9"), or just the 6"x9"s, which are often used for the border. Appian-Stone is also available in a wide range of colors. Several patterns designs add even more flexibility to your project.

Questions and Answers Q. Where can I use Appian Stone pavers ? A. Driveways (2-3⁄8"), patios, over slabs, walkways and most anywhere. Q. How do Appian Stone pavers compare to other shapes ? A. Appian Stone pavers are excellent for ensuring the integrity of your interlocking paver system (2-3⁄8" thickness or greater). The longest length of 9" relative to the 2-3⁄8" thickness provides an aspect ratio of 3.79, which is well within the guidelines of the Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute (ICPI) of 4 or less. As the paver length increases, the aspect ratio also increases, which eventually begins to compromise the overall integrity of the interlocking capability of the paver system. Q. Can 1-3⁄16" thick Pavers be used over a concrete driveway ? A. 1-3⁄16" thick pavers (thin pavers), are normally not suitable for driveways or where vehicles will be passing over, however contractors after a thorough review, may determine that it is okay to install the thin pavers over concrete. Thin pavers are primarily installed over concrete slabs, typically for patios.
Note: Techniseal makes a product called DriBond, which is an advanced dry mudset that allows thin pavers to be installed over a concrete driveway. Dribond is offered by Paver Outlet.Q. If a patio is partly on a slab and partly on a sand base, what size pavers should I use ? A. The same color on 1-3⁄16" thick pavers can have a slightly different shade than the 2-3⁄8" thick pavers, so where possible it is advantageous to use the same thickness, especially when the thin pavers will be next to the thick pavers. This is not always possible due to door threshold clearances and other considerations. If you will require both thin and thick pavers, it is recommended to get actual pavers samples of the color(s) that you wish and compare them for any color variation.
