Q. Why is the StructureBond hardscape adhesive so strong ? |
A. Because of its special foam formula, the StructureBond hardscape adhesive contains less filling material and more raw polyurethane power. This is why it completely bonds to the substrate on which it is applied and becomes one with it. |
Q. What is the difference between a standard tube adhesive and StructureBond foam adhesive ? |
A. Whatever way you look at it, StructureBond is a better, stronger, faster and cleaner product than any other hardscape adhesive currently available on the market. Like we previously said, StructureBond's unique foam formula grants it unprecedented power by packing more punch and leaving filling materials behind. StructureBond will not dry out between applications and every ounce of adhesive contained in a canister can be used. The days where you had to throw out a half full adhesive cardtridge are over ! |
Q. Is it necessary to brace the pieces and substrates ? |
A. Bracing is not necessary in any horizontal application. For vertical applications, bracing could be required. |
Q. What condition must substrates be in for bonding ? |
A. Substrates must be structurally sound, clean (not powdery, chalky or flaky), and without excessive movement. A faster cure can be obtained by moistening the substrates with a light water mist. |
Q. On what materials can the StructureBond Hardscpape Foam Adhesive be used ? |
A. Initially designed for the hardscape industry, the StructureBond Foam Adhesive can also be used on the vast majority of construction substrates. You can get the raw bonding power of this high strength adhesive by using it on:
Concrete Pavers, Stamped Concrete, Bricks, Porcelain, Wood & Plywood, Composite Materials, Drywalls, Steel, Aluminium, Natural Stone, & PVC. |
Q. How does the GUN II adhesive dispenser work ? |
A. Made of high-quality materials, the GUN II adhesive dispenser was specifically designed for use with StructureBond. To get things running, simply screw on a can of our high grade hardscape foam adhesive on top of the dispenser. The foam output (bead size) can be adjusted by using the adjustment dial located above the grip. Cleaning the tool is just as easy, unscrew the empty adhesive canister and replace it with a cleaning cartridge, pull the trigger until the solution comes out clear. |
Q. How can the adhesive be removed ? |
A. Before its starts to cure (approximately 10 minutes), the adhesive can be removedwith Techniseal’s StructureBond Cleaner or with acetone. Once fully cured, the adhesive can only be removed mechanically. |
Q. How long can I move the substrates before the adhesive starts to set ? |
A. Approximately 8 minutes. This is known as the “open time”. It can be a little bit less when the air moisture content is high. |
Q. How can Structurebond save hardscape experts money on their day-to-day operations ? |
A. Field tests show that a single StructureBond canister can provide up to 600ft of high strength adhesive before you have to replace it. That's the equivalent of 20 regular size cartdridge adhesives in a single package. |
Q. What does “24-hour curing time” mean ? |
A. It means that the adhesive has reached its maximum bonding strength. After 24 hours, most substrate will break before the joint. |
Q. Does StructureBond emit a particular odor ? |
A. StructureBond emits very little odor. However, it is recommended to use it in a well-ventilated space. |
Q. Should I wear a mask when using StructureBond ? |
A. No. It is not necessary to use a mask as it emits very little odor. |
Q. What is the recommended application temperature ? |
A. StructureBond should be used between 0 and 120 ºF. |
Q. Is StructureBond flammable or toxic after it has dried ? |
A. No. Once the product has cured, the solvents have dissipated. It is the solvents that are flammable/toxic. |
Q. Can the adhesive freeze ? |
A. The product can freeze; however, once returned to room temperature it is usable. |
Q. Does the product resist water ? |
A. StructureBond will resist water penetration. However, it should not be used below the waterline or immersed in water for long periods of time (e.g., pools, aquariums). |
Q. What is the shelf life of the product ? |
A. The shelf life is approximately 12 to 15 months. |
Q. How do I dispose of the canister once it is empty ? |
A. If the canister is empty, put it in the garbage. Check with your hauler to see if they accept such canisters for recycling. If the canister still contain product, bring it to your city or county household hazardous waste collection site. |
